Hey Joe! Fantastic job on the site.
Well, I wanted to take a moment to drop by and visit yet another Northwest Atlantic Paddler who is not in the northwest Atlantic lol.
It seems that the Fast Sea Kayaks (FSK) lines are really taking off. I dont think I'll ever go back to the 'typical'sea kayak now. Though God knows they've provided me with countless adventures, and I have no regrets about them....well maybe one....that Iwasnt introduced to the fast sea kayaks earlier in my paddling life.
Ive yet to try out all the boats Ive wanted to ... but there is a certain charm in those boats..the extra length, extra speed, effieceny in the open water...
So many to try
The Rapiers Ive played with, an Inuk and Navigator from NELO, Ive played with Surfskis, I would also like to get my hands on Mirage boats, the manufacturer who provided Andrew Mccauley with his boat during his illfated crossing.
Kirton is on top of my list to try out to...
James.

Well myself, I've spent countless hours in the old Necky Looksha II's, a fast 20 foot Mike Nevkar design from back when Necky Kayaks really was NECKY kayaks and not just a part of a mega corportation at Johnson Outdoors. I've also had a couple down river race kayaks, one a Projon, 1 another Neckar design from the old days of Necky. Plenty of time in my old 20 foot Baidarka, a Nigel Dennis Greenlander Pro, the NDK Greenlander RACE used for my Vancouver Island speed record in 2007. I've paddled several surfskis, a couple K1's, some OC-1 outrigger race canoes, marathon solo and tandem canoes etc. So many boats, so little time!! Thankfully, paddling season is right around the corner again here on Lake Superior. Cheers...Joe

Well my new expedition kayak for Vancouver Island is now on the way. Tahe Marine is supplieing me with a couple of Tahe Wind 585's in Kevlar for the expedition. I'm bringing one to Thunder Bay and having the second one stored in British Columbia until i get there. Both will be identical. I'll train in one here on Lake Superior and make any needed modifications. Once in BC, I'll set up the second one the same way. Specs are 19'2" by 21.25", very little rocker, long fast waterline. Should be perfect for taking back the speed record.
