  Hey Folks, just added numerous paddling events for club members.

   The Thursday Night Paddling is back in full force and begins May 6th and continues right into September. Click on the Calendar link to see whats coming up. Members will receive weekly emails in advance of individual events with locations and such. Going to be a great season!!

 Plans are being laid for weekend and overnight events as well. Check back soon!

Time to start planning out the 2010 season and doing up a rough calendar of events. Lots of new content and trips coming soon!

   Being well into the second half of February, it is time to start the membership drive for the 2010 paddling season. Print off the membership forms and send 'em in folks, get on the regular mailing list for all the info on events and outings for the upcoming season, it is going to be by far the best season yet for the club!! 

 CLUB EVENTS SCHEDULE 2010: (Click for the most recent Club Schedule)

   For a sneak peek on some upcoming plans for the 2010 paddling season, there is going to be a Greenland Paddling style weekend coming up featuring rolling clinics with a World Class instructor coming in, an introduction to Greenland style rope gymnastics and a slideshow. Watch for this event to take place on July 31st/ August 1st this summer.

    The weekly Thursday Night Paddles are set to resume in early May and will continue on a regular basis right into September and will start from a few local put-in locations such as the Kaminstiqua River Heritage Park boat launch, the boat launch over on Mission Island, The weir on the Neebing River, the Shoppers Drug Mart location on the MacIntrye River plus a few others. The Thursday Night events will all be posted online shortly with put-in spots but some of these may change during the season but will be posted well in advance.  

   Also in the works, for the speed and fitness paddlers out there, is a one day informal "Race" from the Canada/ US border at Pigeon River to Thunder Bay, a distance of roughly 60 kilometers... this one is geared for the faster, more competitive minded paddlers mainly. Rough water paddling and rescue skills are mandatory on this one, email me for more information.  Date should be announced late in February and will be posted on the calendar.

   June 18th to 20th is the Rossport Symposium, hosted by Naturally Superior Adventures, this event takes place in the beautiful Rossport Islands and, as always, promises to be a first rate event. Mark it down on your calendars, it will be well worthwhile! 

   Naturally Superior Greenland Symposium.  Mark down August 26th to 29th for the Greenland event down at Wawa, this one will be well worth attending and will have a wide range of events scheduled. Check the above link for more details on this great event hosted by our friends David Wells and his fine staff and friends.

   Watch for a series of canoeing events coming up as well, everything from day trips/ evening paddles to overnight trips and some instructional events. Lots more in the works so check in regularly for the latest news. 

    Also, you can find the club on FACEBOOK Group, just search for "Superior Kayak & Canoe Club" ...check it out!  The Facebook page will some event information and links but for the most part, the bulk of club related information will be hosted here on the Club Pages of my website as not everyone uses Facebook.

    Club Gear Swap and BBQ will be coming up sometime in the summer, likely in August, dates coming later.

    As a side note, a full slate of courses will be offered this season...Basic Strokes, Rescues, Rolling,  "Advanced Forward Stroke", "Race Training" and much more. 

Up to date 2010 Club members will receive a  discount on all courses put on by myself in the Thunder Bay area throughout the season (Symposium Events not included).

   Membership forms are posted on the website, just print them out, fill 'em in and either mail them in or drop them off to me in person. All current members for 2010 will be eligible to receive a 15% discount on Joe O' Paddles throughout the paddling season (locals deal only and for pick up on a cash & carry basis) as well as a variety of discounts time to time on other paddling accessories and Tahe Kayaks.

To join the club, click the two links below, copy and paste the Wavier form and the Membership form onto  a pair of Word documents or similar, print them out, fill out your information and then either mail it in, drop it off to me in person at a club event.
